nomads. a restaurant in amsterdam that draws its inspiration from the arabian nomad culture. With its sublime interior - designed by the trend-setting architectural firm Concrete - and its special opening hours (from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m.), nomads assumes a place all its own among the more exotic quality restaurants in our capital city. nomads offers a varying menu of authentic Arabian dishes every evening starting at 8 p.m. A short menu is available between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

at nomads it’s “east meets west”! under the direction of chef, ali ballout, nomads presents traditional arabian cuisine for intrigued western epicures. ali ballout is born and raised in libanon. he lived in france and in the usa. he worked in a variety of international restaurants, a.o. as chef in the olive tree, a 4-diamond libananees- french restaurant in the usa, where he was in charge of catering for bill clinton and bob dole.

the encounter between east and west permeates every aspect of nomads. you’ll find it in the logo and the teaser campaign (created by the design agency laboratorivm), as well as in the staff uniforms by fashion designer aziz. the kilims are designed by barbara broekman and woven in egypt, while the table settings and the lighting are from morocco. the “east meets west” theme is naturally also present in the music. Under the direction of our resident dj, jimmy jazz, nomads is developing a sound of its own, blending arabic elements with contemporary western dance music.
